Editorial Guidelines & Verification
Our pledge to factual precision, independent verification, and uncompromised public trust.
1. Fact-Checking & Primary Sourcing
Spark Today News enforces a mandatory multi-source verification rule. Correspondents must never report speculative assertions as established fact. Official government, police, or judicial statements must be balanced with direct on-ground accounts and corroborated documentary evidence.
2. Anonymous Sources Protocol
Anonymity is granted exclusively when disclosing information imperils a source’s personal safety or livelihood, and the information is of overwhelming public interest. The identity of the source must be disclosed to at least the Bureau Chief or Executive Editor to verify credibility.
3. Corrections & Retractions Policy
We believe that accountability strengthens credibility. When an error of fact is verified in any published dispatch:
- The text is corrected promptly in the digital archive.
- A prominent, dated correction note is appended at the top or base of the article explaining the modification.
- In cases of substantial misstatement, an editorial retraction notice is published across our main channels.
4. Conflict of Interest
Journalists and editors at Spark Today News are barred from holding financial stakes in companies they routinely cover, accepting paid travel from political entities, or engaging in partisan political campaigning.
